NUVP ANNOUNCES STARTUPS SELECTED FOR INAUGURAL ‘BRIDGE TO SUCCESS’ PROGRAM
Venture fund’s developmental program preparing mission-aligned startups from digital-learning and future-of-work sectors for Series A fundraising in 2021
New U Venture Partners (NUVP) has announced the first cohort of its Bridge to Success program—a development program for seed-stage and post-seed-stage startups that provides resources, including mentorship and catalytic capital required to successfully raise Series A financing. The six startups, which consist of domestic and international companies, selected for the program include:
CognaLearn: Based in Singapore, CognaLearn’s online team-based learning platform makes it easier for professors to deliver team quizzes, cases, and 360-degree peer evaluations, which helps learners develop collaboration and critical thinking skills.
GLEAC: With locations in the United States, United Arab Emirates, and India, GLEAC benchmarks and develops students’ gaps in soft skills desired in current and emerging jobs in just 10 minutes a day. It then signals users’ readiness score—similar to a dynamic FICO score—to the job market.
ion Learning: The San Diego-based company offers the first B2B social learning platform to use a diversity-driven algorithm that optimizes and scales small groups across a company to complete e-learning courses virtually. It was specifically created so diverse individuals from different offices can collaborate, learn from each other’s unique backgrounds and perspectives, and build trust through accountability and storytelling.
InScribe: The Denver-based company is transforming the student engagement experience through a virtual platform that leverages the power of community and artificial intelligence to connect students to the answers, resources, and people needed to succeed.
NewCampus: The Singapore-based company offers modern online business education supercharging careers across Asia for 1 percent of the cost of a traditional MBA. Attend live, innovative, and practical masterclasses, as well as events and networking with global business leaders such as Xiaomi, Grab, and Netflix.
Onramp: Based in Oakland, Calif., Onramp helps close the gap between the skills companies need and the skills candidates have, delivering highly qualified and more diverse candidate pools for companies to hire from. Its platform reverse-engineers job descriptions to provide training resources specifically targeting the skills candidates need to succeed in the hiring process and on the job.
NUVP plans to conduct the Bridge to Success program annually, and will potentially invest up to $1 million in catalytic capital per startup in this first cohort. Founders from the startups are participating in weekly lessons designed to refine pitches for Series A funding and have been paired with industry professionals who are serving as mentors in the process. The program culminates in February with a potential investment of from NUVP.
“These startups are positioned to have far-reaching impacts on education and workforce development,” said Dre Bennin, Managing Partner of NUVP. “We’re proud to lend our expertise and resources to get them to the next level.”
