When it Comes to Community and Belonging, How Does Your Institution Stack Up?
Find out with InScribe’s Institutional Self-Assessment Tool
In higher education, research increasingly demonstrates how influential a student’s sense of belonging is to key outcomes including persistence and emotional well-being. Today, creating a strong community with students is more important than ever as we return for a fall semester full of change and uncertainty.
Having a meaningful and intentional strategy for student support and community is critical, but many schools aren’t sure where to start or what to prioritize—and without a little help and guidance, tackling this challenge can simply feel overwhelming.
In response to this, and based on our experience helping schools create thriving digital communities, our team at InScribe has created a free institutional assessment to help schools reflect on current strategies and highlight key areas for investment and improvement. This short, five-minute survey was created in partnership with WGU Labs* and provides feedback on key areas of support and engagement that are highly correlated to student success such as:
Access and guidance during the enrollment process
Availability of digital support services
Promotion of peer-to-peer support and mentorship (including alumni engagement)
Responsiveness to student and faculty feedback
Impact of the COVID pandemic on strategies for engagement and support
This assessment is designed to provide actionable recommendations for leaders across campus. When possible, we encourage multiple team members to complete the assessment independently and compare feedback as a group, creating opportunities to discuss different perspectives and a shared vision. Digital communities keep everyone connected, especially during times of change. From supporting and retaining students to helping them thrive and grow, digital communities have the power to keep us all moving forward.
